Further Research

Hmm ever notice when you tell a joke and start laughing your butt off, only to notice that you're the only one laughing? Well the same can be said about websites. You may think that your site is the best out there, but now you have to convince everyone else. Not exactly an easy feat.

Well, I started to notice that less and less are taking an interest into the site. So once again, it's up to me to convince people that Jakkar.com is the place to go. I have found a few more sites out there that can give help to build up your traffic without costing a cent. So I decided to take a look. One place was a paid site, however, they did provide a list of popular places to go. www.toprankresults.com This way you can pick places to submit info about your site to. The other site had some pretty good tips on how to at least pick up your following of users. www.toprankblog.com. This at least can give you a quick start with some more ideas. Now another thing that I have decided to add was a counter.

Adding a Counter

Now adding a counter to your site can be a dual-edged sword. Yes, it is nice to see how many people are coming to your site. But only when people are coming to your site. A counter that doesn't move in several days can play bad on you. So my suggestion it that if you are going to place a counter on your site, make it small so it's not that obvious to everyone. (hell, if you start getting outrageous amounts of traffic, you can place a huge sign on your site saying "over 1 million served", or something) I am using statcounter.com they're free (duhh) and they can provide some pretty useful metrics. Looking at this information, you can figure out what pages are popular, where does most of your traffic come from, which sites have been referring their users to you. By looking at this, it is quite obvious that digg.com has been responsible for most of my hits. Of course, I have been posting there the most. Of course the most important part of this is that you use the data. if you do so, then you know what to try and what works best for you.

And remember, this is all free. The only thing that this takes, is your time and a lot of patience.
